A Bit More About Us

MISSION STATEMENT

The primary objective of this association is to promote and preserve osteopathic medicine in the Dayton district. Additional objectives are:

  • To increase the awareness of the uniqueness of osteopathic medicine to the public, private, professional, and governmental sectors of the community.

  • To promote ethical standards for osteopathic member physicians.

  • To help establish educational opportunities elevating the standard of osteopathic care.

  • To pursue procurement of membership benefits.

  • To provide social events to build osteopathic unity and camaraderie.

We Are Here To Help You

The Dayton District Academy is a small but essential piece in the osteopathic organizational structure. The Dayton District Academy, comprised of the counties of Butler, Champagne, Clark, Clinton, Darke, Greene, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby and Warren, is one of 13 districts in Ohio.

We are a divisional part of the Ohio Osteopathic Association which is responsible for the Osteopathic issues at the state level. Ohio, which is a large D.O. state, has a great amount of influence in the American Osteopathic Association which addresses osteopathic issues on a national level. We are the first step in making changes in the Ohio Osteopathic Association and the American Osteopathic Association.

The Academy is involved in many areas which impact the Osteopathic physician such as community relations, political action committee (DOPAC), relations with the Dayton Bar Association and the Montgomery County Medical Society.

We’re the second largest Academy in Ohio and we’d like to become the largest. Please become involved in your District Academy. We work for all Osteopathic physicians in the area.

SOCIAL EVENTS

The Dayton District Academy holds a spring golf outing in late May or early June. Great opportunity to see colleagues while playing 18 holes of golf, followed by a sit down dinner and award presentation and raffle drawings.

Come October or early November, the Academy hosts a Wine & Cheese social to all members, residents & students. Mingle with colleagues and friends while sampling a variety of different wines complimented by a selection of cheeses and meats.

In early December the Academy co hosts with the Grandview Foundation, Grandview/Southview Hospitals and Medical Staff an elegant Holiday Gala. A festive evening to catch up with old and new friends. Mark your calendars for December 11, 2021 at the Masonic Center in Dayton.

D.O.P.A.C.

The Academy also has its own political action committee (DOPAC). Depending upon the political season, we’re invited to numerous fund-raising or “met the candidate” events. Representation to these events truly helps impact the legislative climate at the local and state level.

Membership application is available to all physicians, (MD and DO), in good standing.
Contact the Academy office for an application at 937.723.3438 Or visit our Membership Page and download the PDF version.
